Roma have officially completed the transfer of midfielder Houssem Aouar to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad for a reported fee of €12 million, with additional bonuses. This move represents a significant financial gain for the Italian club, considering Aouar joined Roma as a free agent just last summer after his contract with Olympique Lyonnais expired.
During his brief stint with Roma, Aouar made 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals. However, he struggled to secure a regular place in the starting lineup under both Jose Mourinho and Daniele De Rossi.
The transfer, which was officially announced by Al-Ittihad, is seen as a shrewd business move by Roma. Since Aouar arrived at the club without a transfer fee, the entire sum received from Al-Ittihad will be recorded as profit on Roma’s financial books.
