Inter are working on defensive reinforcements this summer and have identified Juan Cabal from Hellas Verona as a potential addition. The Colombian defender has emerged as a new name on Inter’s shortlist, which includes four to five candidates. Cabal’s agents have already visited Inter’s headquarters, indicating serious interest from the Nerazzurri.
According to Gianluca di Marzio, Verona have set a price tag of €10 million for Cabal. Inter’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, has shown a preference for younger profiles, which makes Cabal a suitable target. This preference also means that Inter is less likely to pursue Mario Hermoso, who remains a target for Napoli.
Cabal, who joined Verona from Atletico Nacional in 2022, has made 33 league appearances for the club. Last season, he featured in 22 matches, particularly standing out in the latter half under manager Marco Baroni. His performances have made him one of the promising young defenders in Serie A.
Inter are not the only club interested in Cabal. Lazio has also shown significant interest and had agreed on personal terms with the player. However, negotiations between Lazio and Verona have stalled due to the €10 million valuation, providing Inter with an opportunity to step in and potentially secure the deal.
Inter’s need for a new defender has been accentuated by the long-term injury to Tajon Buchanan during the 2024 Copa America. While other options like Ricardo Rodriguez have been considered, Cabal’s youth and potential make him a more appealing long-term solution for the club.
