Napoli Eyes Lukaku as PSG Pursues Osimhen

Start

Napoli, under new manager Antonio Conte, are preparing for a significant shake-up in their attacking lineup. The club is actively pursuing Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, but this move hinges on the potential departure of their current star forward, Victor Osimhen.

According to Calciomercato, Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as a strong contender for Osimhen’s signature. After failing to secure Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli, PSG has shifted its focus to the Nigerian striker. Luis Campos, PSG’s sporting director who previously brought Osimhen to Lille in 2019, is particularly keen on reuniting with the player.

However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is standing firm on Osimhen’s release clause of €120 million. While open to negotiations, De Laurentiis is not willing to offer significant discounts. PSG may need to come close to this figure to secure the deal, though there’s a possibility of including a player exchange as part of the transaction.

Meanwhile, Napoli has identified Lukaku as their primary target to replace Osimhen. The Belgian striker, currently at Chelsea, is reportedly waiting for Conte’s call at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is demanding €38 million for Lukaku, a figure that interests other clubs, including AC Milan.

As negotiations continue, Osimhen is expected to join Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Dimaro, indicating that any potential transfer may take time to materialize. Conte is allowing the club’s management to handle these complex transfer negotiations while he focuses on preparing the team for the upcoming season.
