Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi says he immediately accepted the offer to join the Nerazzrri, turning down other Italian clubs in the process. The former Porto striker has already joined Inter, with just an official announcement pending. In a recent interview, Taremi discussed his upcoming adventure with the Nerazzurri and revealed the jersey number he has chosen to wear:
“At Inter, anyone who plays must prove to be of the highest level. In this team, you have to strive to be a top player,” Taremi stated. “There are offers that don’t require much reflection, and the Nerazzurri’s was one of them. I had a brief conversation with Inzaghi and immediately accepted because he has a good opinion of me. Playing for Inter is exciting.”
Regarding his departure from Porto, Taremi explained, “I had only one meeting with them to discuss my extension. I made my requests, and they said no. This marked the end between me and Porto. I consider Portugal my second home, and the feelings of Porto fans have had a great impact on my personal life. I told them I will remain a Porto fan for life.”
Taremi also addressed offers from Saudi Arabia, saying, “I never considered them. I was looking for growth opportunities and wanted to join strong teams. Several clubs in Europe expressed interest, but none sent official offers, only initial dialogues that didn’t progress because I immediately accepted Inter’s proposal. I was contacted by 3-4 clubs in England, 2-3 clubs in Italy, and one of the best clubs in Spain.”
As for his jersey number, Taremi revealed, “If number 99 is available, I’ll choose that one.” He also named Ronaldo (the Brazilian) as his idol and the best player in history.
