Real Madrid eye Theo Hernandez as plan B if Davies remains at Bayern

Start

According to reports from the Spanish newspaper Sport, Real Madrid are considering a move for Milan’s left-back Theo Hernandez if their primary target, Alphonso Davies, decides to extend his stay at Bayern Munich.

For months, it has been widely speculated that Davies, whose contract with the Bavarian giants expires in June 2025, was destined for a move to the Spanish capital. However, recent developments suggest that the Canadian international could potentially commit his long-term future to Bayern Munich by signing a new deal.

If Davies does indeed opt to remain in Germany, it would trigger a domino effect that could see Real Madrid turn their attention to a familiar face – Theo Hernandez. The French defender, who currently plies his trade at San Siro, previously donned the famous white jersey of Real Madrid before being sold to Milan in the summer of 2019 for a fee of €22.8 million.

Hernandez’s contract with the Rossoneri runs until June 2026, and while there were previous reports suggesting his reluctance to push for a move to Bayern Munich, the allure of a return to the Santiago Bernabéu could potentially sway his decision.

Interestingly, Bayern Munich had identified Hernandez as a potential replacement for Davies, should the Canadian depart the Allianz Arena. However, with Davies’ potential stay, the Bavarian giants may need to reassess their transfer strategy and explore alternative options to bolster their left-back position.
