Bologna have officially confirmed the appointment of Vincenzo Italiano as their new head coach, following the departure of Thiago Motta. Italiano decided not to extend his contract with Fiorentina when it ended this month, with the Viola appointing Rafaelle Palladino to replace him. Sky Sport Italia reported yesterday that Italiano was close to being appointed as Bologna coach, and the club have now released an official statement, confirming the news:

Born in Karlsruhe (GER) on 10/12/1977, during his coaching career he led Trapani, Spezia and Fiorentina. He won a promotion from Serie C, a promotion from Serie B, two Europa Conference League qualifiers reaching both finals, and a Coppa Italia final. It will be officially presented to the press in the course of next week.
