Interim Juventus coach Paolo Montero believes a draw is a far result following his teams 3-3 draw with Juventus. The Bianconeri went behind within minutes to a brilliant Riccardo Calafiori finish, with Santiago Castro adding a second, before Calafiori doubled his tally. Juve fought back through Federico Chiesa and Arek Milik, before Kenan Yildiz tied things up.
Speaking with DAZN, Montero reflected on his teams performance and his first game on the bench in charge of the senior team:
“It was a fair result. It’s normal to experience a drop in intensity after a major victory like the one we had on Wednesday. Facing a team like Bologna, such a drop can be costly. But the pride and determination of these players shone through in the end.”
Montero described the unique emotions of leading Juventus for the first time: “I had a special kind of agitation; I can’t quite describe it. The reception I received was incredible, and the joy the players gave me was immense.”
Discussing the team’s spirit, Montero was positive: “I found a team with great spirit. The last 20 minutes were a reflection of that. It’s hard to fully understand the dynamics when you’re not involved directly. When I was a player, I could speak from experience. But I saw the team’s resolve, and everyone reacts differently. I also complimented Thiago Motta for how his team played.”
