Milan linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface

Start

Milan are being linked with Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, in the event that they don’t sign Joshua Zirkzee. The Rossoneri have been front runners to sign the Bologna forward, but recent interest from Juventus and Inter may complicate things.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio recently highlighted Milan’s interest in Boniface, earmarking a substantial €45-50 million budget for securing the striker’s services. Corriere dello Sport via PianetaMilan,  lend credence to the Boniface speculation. Although Milan’s primary target appears to be Zirkzee from, hurdles such as the lofty price tag and stiff competition, notably from Juventus and Premier League outfits, may prompt a reevaluation of options, thrusting Boniface into the spotlight once more.

Nigerian striker Boniface has been a shining light in Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen squad, contributing significantly to their impressive Bundesliga campaign. With an impressive tally of 16 goals and nine assists in 25 appearances across various competitions this season, the 23-year-old has emerged as a potent force in front of goal.

Milan’s interest in Boniface traces back to his stint in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise. Despite initial talks between the Rossoneri and the player’s representatives, a deal failed to materialize, leading Boniface to Germany in a €20 million move.

However, with his stock soaring after a stellar season, Milan’s sporting directors Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada face the daunting task of tabling a significantly higher bid, reportedly in the region of €40 million, to secure Boniface’s signature. Nevertheless, this figure aligns with Milan’s predetermined budget earmarked for acquiring a new No.9, underscoring the club’s determination to bolster their attacking prowess.
