Inter eye Bologna’s Sam Beukema as potential replacement for Francesco Acerbi

Start

Inter are reportedly looking to Bologna defender Sam Beukema as a potential replacement for Francesco Acerbi.  The Nerazzurri are gearing up for a demanding campaign next season, with participation in Serie A, the Champions League, and the revamped Club World Cup on the horizon. In anticipation of the rigorous schedule, the club is keen to bolster its squad depth and provide coach Simone Inzaghi with increased tactical flexibility.

With both Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij set to leave the club in 2025, the Nerazzurri management are gearing up to invest in a more youthful back-line for the future.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Inter initially considered Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno as a candidate but balked at the Granata’s valuation of the player. Consequently, they have redirected their attention to Bologna’s Beukema.

The 25-year-old Dutch defender, who arrived at Bologna from AZ Alkmaar last summer for a modest fee of €9 million, has enjoyed a stellar debut season under manager Thiago Motta. Beukema has amassed over 2500 minutes of playing time across 28 appearances, impressing with his defensive solidity and composure on the ball.

Under contract with Bologna until June 2027, Beukema carries an estimated price tag of €20-25 million. Talks between Inter and Bologna regarding a potential transfer could ensue in the coming months as the Nerazzurri seek to reinforce their defensive ranks for the challenges ahead.
