Vincenzo Italiano refused to be drawn on his future, insisting that what happens on the pitch is more important. The Viola put in a hard-working performance, but ultimately lost 2-1 to Milan, courtesy of a Rafa Leao winner just moments after Alfred Duncan had equalised. Speaking post-match, Italiano insisted his players had given their best, despite the scoreline:
“We did everything we had to do. In the first half, we limited them, and we also had opportunities to score. We shouldn’t have conceded that second goal, but we did everything within our capabilities and gave our best. I congratulated the boys.”
Regarding missed opportunities, Italiano noted, “Belotti could have scored in the first half, and Maignan made great saves in the second half. But it happens; these things occur too.”
Concerning Fiorentina’s issues, Italiano said, “At certain moments, we fail to be decisive and capitalize on what we create. This problem continues to arise. Squad depth? Playing every three days, we have to field those who are in the best shape. We need to rotate and find energy to go all the way.”
Finally, regarding his future, Italiano stated, “I don’t want to avoid answering, but our focus must remain on the remaining matches. These discussions are not helpful; they can distract from concentration and attention. The field is more important than individual matters.”
