Daniele De Rossi says his Roma side are eager to start playing again, but Paulo Dybala will have to be assessed. The Giallorossi are unbeaten in their last five Serie A matches and are in the race for a top four finish, heading into the closing stages of the season. Speaking ahead of the match with Lecce, De Rossi says his team are raring to go, but Paulo Dybala is still a big doubt for the match after his latest injury issues:
“We really want to start playing again, in this case it’s fine to skip a holiday at home just to get back to doing what we like as we will have to face a very tough obstacle in the form of playing Lecce away from home.”
“Now the points, especially for the teams that are at the bottom, are really worth double if not triple and it will be a very tough match against a difficult opponent.”
“They will certainly be fierce, and there is a lot of unpredictability because they’ve only played one match with Gotti in charge. We prepared two versions, one a little more similar to what he did in the past and one much more similar to what he did in Salerno.”
“The international break? It’s unavoidable and it’s something I respect having been part of it for many years. Everyone is back now, yesterday we had an amazing training session. I was happy to see them like this, a little tired today, but the feeling is that the team has already dived back into what is our main objective.”
“We’ll evaluate Dybala tomorrow. He did more intense training alone, yesterday he did it without the ball, today he trained with us, but it was a mild training. Tomorrow we will understand how he is and understand whether to take him with us or not. We will see whether he will play or start on the bench.”
“Abraham? Tammy cannot play on Monday. He’s suffered some delays in his recovery and still needs two more weeks to be ready.”
“Our chances for Top 4? Making these projections is really of little use. We have to go and win our match, there will be many more difficult ones ahead of us. If we face them all together we are dead, if we face them one at a time we can also win them all.”
“Nobody thought we could get 7 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat out of my first nine games. I think this should give us a little more confidence to face the next matches in the best possible way.”
