Former Roma defender Christian Panucci believes the Giallorossi can qualify for next seasons Champions League: “De Rossi deserves it.” The former Italy full-back shared his thoughts on his former team at the EA7 World Legends Padel Tour in Barcelona, talking about the progress De Rossi has made with the squad, and the impressive form of Paulo Dybala:
“I am very happy. De Rossi is a Roman at heart, doing well, and deserves to go to the Champions League. He is an exceptional guy,” Panucci expressed his delight at De Rossi’s impact. “I am convinced he will do a great job and has already instilled a sense of unity, a different idea, and the team is responding well. I am very happy on a personal level.”
Regarding Roma’s chances of making it to the Champions League, Panucci admitted his earlier skepticism but now acknowledges the team’s fighting spirit. “Three months ago, I said no. I wanted them to win the league, but it seemed so far away that it was hard to imagine. I was wrong. Now they are there fighting, and it’s right for them to try until the end. For what they are showing, I have to say yes. De Rossi and the boys are doing a great job.”
When asked about his favorite player, Panucci didn’t hesitate to praise Dybala, highlighting his immense quality. “When you see Dybala’s brilliance, you look at him and say, ‘He’s a top player.’ His quality is immense, he’s the one who makes you enjoy the game. I particularly like him,” he concluded.
