An emotional Rocco Commisso paid tribute to his friend Joe Barone: “He will always be part of Fiorentina.” Barone tragically lost his life earlier this week after a short illness, and the Viola held a ceremony earlier today on what would have the Fiorentina directors 58th birthday. Paying tribute to his friend, a tearful Commisso said:
“Barone left everything and his family to come here. We built a great sports center, Viola Park wouldn’t exist without him. Joe worked all day, and we were constantly in touch, at least twice a day. I can only thank the family for this. Without him, Viola Park would never have existed.
“We spoke at least twice a day, even on the day he fell ill. Always remember him, he will always remain a part of Fiorentina. Joe will never die, he will live forever in our hearts.”
