Francesco Acerbi, amidst controversy surrounding allegations of racial slurs directed at Juan Jesus during Inter’s match against Napoli, vehemently denies any wrongdoing. Despite his denial, Acerbi acknowledges the necessity of his exclusion from the Italy squad.

The altercation between Acerbi and Juan Jesus occurred during Sunday’s Serie A clash, culminating in Juan Jesus informing the referee of Acerbi’s alleged use of a racial slur. However, Acerbi maintains that he “certainly did not say anything racist” to his opponent.

Juan Jesus initially stated that Acerbi had apologized, expressing his readiness to move past the incident. However, Inter coach Luciano Spalletti took the decision to send Acerbi home ahead of the team’s friendlies in America, indicating the seriousness with which the matter was treated.

Returning to Milan amidst media scrutiny, Acerbi faced a barrage of questions regarding the allegations. Firmly standing his ground, he reiterated, “I did not say anything racist, this is for certain,” dismissing the accusations leveled against him.

Speculation surrounds potential disciplinary action against Acerbi, with reports suggesting a possible 10-match Serie A ban. Meanwhile, Juan Jesus took to Instagram to assert that he defended his ‘rights’ on the pitch, further complicating the narrative.

Clarifying his stance, Acerbi remarked, “I can certainly say that nothing racist came out of my mouth.” He expressed uncertainty regarding Juan Jesus’ claim of an apology, hinting at a possible misunderstanding. Acerbi emphasized his extensive experience in professional football, asserting control over his words.

“I think he might’ve misunderstood me. Apologise? All I know is that I didn’t say any racist phrases. I have been playing football for 20 years and I know what I say.

“Many things happen on the pitch, that is normal, but when the referee blows his whistle, you shake hands, and it all goes back to how it was before.

Regarding his conversation with Italy coach Spalletti, Acerbi chose to keep details private, indicating his disappointment at being excluded but accepting the decision.
