Lecce have released a statement, confirming that coach D’Aversa has been relieved of his duties following yesterdays events. The coach was seen headbutting Hellas Verona striker Henry Thomas after the Lecce’s 1-0 defeat, with the club immediately condemning his actions.
D’Aversa later apologised for his actions, but Lecce have released a statement this morning, confirming they are in the process of firing him:
“After the events that occurred at the end of the Lecce – Verona match, U.S. Lecce announces that they have relieved coach Roberto D’Aversa of his duties. We would like to thank the coach and his staff for their work”.
