Bologna coach Thiago Motta wasn’t too disheartened by his sides 1-0 defeat to Inter: “I believe we put in a good performance against a team in form.” Yann Bissek scored the only goal of the game, but the Rossoblu had chances of their own to draw level, forcing Nerazzurri keeper Yann Sommer into some good saves. Speaking after the match, Motta reflected on what he considered an encouraging performance, and also confirmed that Joshua Zirkzee will require monitoring after coming off injured:
“There’s a strange feeling because I believe we put in a good performance against a team in form. To compete with Inter, we need to fine-tune every aspect of our game. We conceded a goal that could have been avoided.”
He then addressed Zirkzee’s condition: “We need to assess him. After the match, he came off, and I saw him a bit tired. He had a slight discomfort, and I hope it’s nothing serious.”
Motta concluded by acknowledging Inter’s strength: “Inter is a great team, and they’re proving it in every match. They’re a very complex team that defends deep and covers spaces well. In the first half, it’s normal to be stifled, and then when you concede a goal, everything becomes more difficult. We stayed in the game until the end, trying to find the equalizer, but we couldn’t. Credit to them; they’re in good form, and they deserve congratulations.”
