Inter coach Simone Inzaghi believes his team are doing something ‘extraordinary’, having beaten Bologna 1-0 to make it 10 Serie A wins in a row. A first half goal from Yann Bisseck was enough to secure the win against a high-flying Rossblu side, and speaking in the post-match, Inzaghi acknowledged that his team are on an extraordinary path this season, while also commenting on Nicolo Barella’s apology:
“We honored Inter’s birthday with a victory that was immensely important for us,” began Inzaghi. “We thoroughly deserved the lead goal in the first half. Scoring a goal from end to end is a great satisfaction for the entire staff: credit to the boys, but there’s still a long way to go. They’re all giving me countless emotions and trophies: I owe them more than just a dinner,” he added, acknowledging the significance of the win.
Reflecting on the game’s progression, Inzaghi highlighted the team’s performance in each half. “The first half was excellent; we did what we set out to do in recent days. In the second half, however, we occupied less of the field, and Bologna came out with their qualities. Augusto [Vecino] didn’t feel his calf was free, and Arnautovic felt something too,” he explained, providing insights into the physical challenges faced by some players during the match.
Inzaghi concluded his post-match comments by emphasizing the remarkable journey Inter has undertaken in the league. “Football moves very quickly: being at Inter, we always have the obligation to be ready. In the league, we’re doing something extraordinary: securing the thirteenth victory against an opponent that hadn’t lost at home since August 18 wasn’t easy. Barella’s apologies? They honor him,” he remarked, addressing Nicolo Barella’s post-match apologies.
Looking ahead to the upcoming clash against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Inzaghi acknowledged the challenges awaiting his team. “We know what we’ll face. We’ll try to prepare well: the environmental factor of the Wanda Metropolitano will have an impact,” he concluded, underscoring the importance of thorough preparation for their European campaign.
