Sassuolo’s Negotiations with Grosso at a Standstill

Start

Following Alessio Dionisi’s dismissal after Sassuolo’s home defeat against Empoli, the team temporarily entrusted the reins to Primavera coach Emiliano Bigica. Negotiations with Fabio Grosso continued throughout the day, but are yet to gather pace.

Sky Sport Italia report that after Gennaro Gattuso turned down the offer, Sassuolo persisted in talks with Grosso, but the parties have yet to reach an agreement. The former Lyon coach is seeking a two-and-a-half-year contract, while the Neroverdi propose a one-and-a-half-year deal not tied to the league, thus remaining valid even in the event of relegation to Serie B.

Additionally, Grosso would prefer to join in June, whereas Sassuolo obviously needs him now. For now, an internal solution has been chosen, with the team entrusted to Bigica to prepare for Wednesday’s match against Napoli, but further developments are expected.

The situation at Sassuolo remains delicate, with the team languishing in 17th place in the standings with 20 points. They have only secured five victories so far this season, with the last win dating back to January 6th.
