Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal have wasted no time in expressing their interest in Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen. Recent reports suggest that both English clubs have already made contact with the player’s entourage, exploring the possibility of a potential transfer.
Osimhen, a Nigerian international, had hinted at the prospect of leaving Napoli, despite having signed a new contract with the club not long ago. The situation surrounding the player has taken an interesting turn, with Rai (via CN24) shedding light on Napoli’s strategy. It is reported that Napoli’s decision to offer Osimhen a new deal was primarily to facilitate a summer transfer, leveraging the release clause embedded in his contract.
While Paris Saint-Germain has shown interest in securing Osimhen’s services, it is Chelsea and Arsenal who have taken the initial steps by making contact with the player’s representatives. Real Madrid’s interest has been noted, but they are yet to make a concrete move for the 25-year-old striker.
Crucially, Osimhen’s release clause is applicable only to clubs outside of Italy, extinguishing any possibility of an intra-league transfer. This stance remains firm, even in the face of former Juventus striker Alessandro Matri’s recent suggestion that Juventus could be a potential destination for Osimhen in the upcoming summer transfer window.
