Thiago Motta Reflects on Bologna’s Performance Against Milan: “We Always Play to Win. On the Penalty…”

Start

Bologna coach Thiago Motta says his team play to win following their thrilling 2-2 draw with Milan at the San Siro.  shared his thoughts with Sky Sport. The Rossoblu took the lead through Joshua Zirkzee, but Milan pulled one back before half time through Ruben Loftus Cheek. The Englishman doubled his tally for the night on the 83rd minute, only for Filippo Terracciano  to concede a penalty in the dying seconds, ably converted by Riccardo Orsolini.

Addressing the issues faced during the game with Sky Sport Italia, particularly his expulsion concerning a penalty conceded to Milan at the end of the first half, Motta stated:

“We played a good game; from the first minute, we played to win. I won’t dwell on the incidents; that will be the task of the management if they want to. If they don’t talk, it means everyone is okay with it.”

Motta expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance: “We can improve on goal-scoring opportunities. Especially in these games, when you get in front of the goal, you have to finish well. In any case, we played a great game, and I am very pleased with the boys.”

Discussing the team’s season objectives, Motta emphasized their ambition to win every game: “We often manage to play to win. However, sometimes we struggle, as happened with Cagliari, Empoli, and Torino, because Serie A is a very difficult league. We must always have the ambition to win every match.”

On Xavi’s departure from Barcelona, Motta expressed regret: “For me, he is having a great season. I wish him the best.”
