As the January transfer window winds down with minimal activity for Juventus, attention in the Italian press is shifting towards the upcoming summer transfer window. While it may not involve any dramatic last-minute moves, the focus is on potential signings, especially with Juventus expected to have funds available.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Juventus’ transfer chief Cristiano Giuntoli and Head of First Team Giovanni Manna have identified Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as a prime target for the summer. The anticipated injection of Champions League money has prompted Juventus to plan a significant midfield upgrade, and Koopmeiners stands out as a top choice.
The 25-year-old Dutchman, who joined Atalanta in 2021, has been in excellent form, scoring five goals and providing three assists this season. Juventus are reportedly preparing a bid of at least €40 million plus bonuses to secure Koopmeiners’ services.
The strategy involves initiating negotiations early to secure a favorable position for Koopmeiners, aiming to deter potential interest from the Premier League. Contacts are expected to intensify from February 3, following the conclusion of the January transfer window.
Koopmeiners is currently under contract until 2027, and his value has significantly risen since Atalanta acquired him for €15 million from AZ Alkmaar. With Champions League qualification on the horizon for Juventus, addressing the midfield is a top priority for Giuntoli and Manna.
