The father of Roma loanee Dean Huijsen says his son is keen to return to Juventus and extend his contract. The 18-year-old joined the Giallorossi last week and has already made his club debut, featuring the second half of Roma’s 1-1 draw with Atalanta. Speaking with Tuttojuve, Donny Huijsen assured that his son is looking to return to Turin to play for Juve, and revealed that a contract renewal is in the works:
Dean looked like a real veteran on the pitch. For the first game in a Roma shirt, what were your feelings?
‘Very positive, from all of us. Seeing him make his debut made us very happy, it’s never easy to arrive a day early and then play immediately at the Olimpico. He had a very good impact.
Did you hear from him after the game?
“Yes, very quickly. He told me he liked it and felt very comfortable.
Will his goal be to return to Juventus in July and find more space?
“The aim of this loan is to guarantee him more minutes, because at Juventus he didn’t get that. Dean will certainly return to Turin with more experience, so that he can play for a place in the Bianconeri next year.”
Why did you choose Roma and not Frosinone? What happened?
“We are grateful for the interest from Frosinone, but when coach Mourinho called it wasn’t very difficult to choose”.
Can you confirm that Dean will have to sign a contract renewal with Juventus until 2028?
“Yes, Dean will have to sign for another year. That was part of the agreement with Juventus.”
How did Juventus perform in this negotiation?
“They behaved very well. Juventus and Roma did everything to bring the deal to a successful conclusion. We are grateful for what happened.
Guido Angelozzi, Frosinone’s sporting director, is not happy with what happened. He told Dazn Italia that he was very disappointed by your behaviour as people. He also added that it was not Frosinone who was looking for you for this loan. How do you respond to his words?
“As I said before, it was not very difficult to choose when coach Mourinho called us. We thank Frosinone for their interest and I hope they can understand what happened, but if there’s a chance to play for Roma you try to take it now.”
