Szymon Żurkowski’s adventure with Spezia is close to an end, with the Polish midfielder ever closer to returning to Empoli. The 26-year-old midfielder spent just six months with the Serie B side, but is now on his way back to Gli Azzurri, and is expected to have his return finalised very soon.
Sky Sport Italia report that the deal is in the home straight, calling Zurkowski’s signing a ‘very important reinforcement for Empoli in their race for salvation. The Polish international had the most important seasons of his career to date at the Castellani, in particular that of 2021/22 when he scored 6 goals and 3 assists.
It was a complicated last year for him at Fiorentina before his transfer to Spezia, where he played 16 matches in Serie B in his first six months.
