Bendtner: ‘I’ve never met anyone like Chiellini’

Start

Former Juventus striker Nicklas Bendtner calls Giorgio Chiellini a ‘a top top top player and an even better person.’ The pair played together for the 2012-13 season, winning the Serie A title under coach Antonio Conte, before Bendtner returned to Arsenal. Speaking on a Danish podcast (via Juentusnews24) the 35-year-old recounted his time in Turin, and shared his experiences of training with Chiellini:

“Okay, so I was very close on joining Fiorentina, but then Juventus wanted me, so of course I went there instead.

“We had a stacked team with 6 great attackers. I didn’t arrive in the best shape, but after four months of not playing I am finally set to start a match.

“In the last training session before the game, Conte wants us to practice some corner kicks, but not like in the traditional way. It’s only me vs. Chiellini. Conte wanted me to go head to head with Chiellini and do 30 corner kicks. 30!

“All the other players just stood there watching us, and if I actually won a duel against him, then Buffon was the goalkeeper. I don’t need to explain to you, that I didn’t score, do I?”

“What I am saying is, I’ve never met someone like Chiellini, a top top top player and an even better person, but I am telling you guys… I’ve never met someone who ate more parmesan on their food than he did, holy s**t.”
