Thiago Motta: ‘It was a victory for Sinisa’

Start

Bologna coach Thiago Motta dedicated his teams 2-0 win over Roma to former Rossoblu coach Siniša Mihajlović. Bologna took the lead on the cusp of half-time through Nikola Moro, with Rasmus Kristensen scoring an own-goal just after the restart to secure the result. Speaking with DAZN post-match, Motta dedicated the win to Mihajlović, who passed away just over a year ago to the day:

“We live every match to the full, we know our difficulties. The boys were good at interpreting every moment of the match. A great performance in every sense: attack, defence, management.

“It is the result of the boys’ work. From day one they have had the idea of growing and performing like they did today. It is an enormous satisfaction to beat a great team like Roma and to get to these moments the boys know what they have to do. Today was also special for Sinisa, this victory is for him. I’m sure he was watching us and giving us a hand.

“Working with a smile is something special. These guys give us satisfaction, they are a real group. We have intelligent players at the back like Calafiori, Beukema, Kristiansen. Ndoye? He has a huge change of pace, on the first goal he put a great ball in at the back. Zirkzee’s movement that frees up space should also be underlined”.

“He’s showing that he’s doing well. He has great quality, helps the group and sacrifices himself. He easily loses too many balls, in this he has to improve. But he is a great guy, a real worker.”

“Our fans have the right to do so, we instead have the duty to train to the maximum already from tomorrow with a view to the next match.”
