Reports from Italy and England suggest Juve are working to renew Matthijs De Ligt’s contract but Chelsea are very interested in the player. The 22-year-old has a deal with the Bianconeri until 2024 but talks are underway to extend the deal and reportedly lower his €120m release clause.
There have been a number of differing reports on the players future in recent days. Goal Italia’s Romeo Agresti suggests that Juve want to renew the Dutchman’s deal, but they now expected a signal from the player. Should this fail to arrive, they will begin to look at transfer scenarios.
This morning’s Corriere dello Sport reports that there will be no renewal of the deal and De Ligt has asked to be sold this summer with Manchester United and Chelsea both keen on the player.
La Repubblica also go with the headline that Chelsea are most interested in De Ligt and would be prepared to spend €70m to sign the player. Rafaela Pimenta,, the players agent, held talks with Juve management yesterday regarding Paul Pogba’s but it’s suggested she also talked about De Ligt’s immediate future, but renewal talks have ‘stalled’ for the moment.
