Italy legend and former Juventus goalkeeper believes Max Allegri is ‘running the team in the best possible way’. The Bianconeri are undefeated in their last 10 Serie A matches and sit seven-points clear in second place. Speaking with Radio Anch’io Sport, Zoff offered his own assessment of Juve’s progress this season and the work Allegri has done:
“Allegri is running the team in the best possible way. He’s achieving remarkable results despite the defects he’s found. The way he plays is inherent in the values of his team. Sport is a battle to win, if you find a less spectacular way it’s fine. The result counts, and you have to see the characteristics of your teams and play them accordingly. That’s what Allegri does. Of course, if you also make a spectacle out of it… But you have to have a formidable squad to do that.
“Nowadays we start with ball possession, but it’s exaggerated and not at all spectacular. They always talk about the goalkeepers’ feet, but that’s an extra. The goalkeeper has a responsibility: he has to save. Exasperated ball possession takes away grit and strength.”
