Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has confirmed that he’s close to signing a contract extension with the club: “We’re close.” The Argentine has long been linked with a new deal that would keep him with the Nerazzurri until at least 2028, and speaking with Sportmediaset, he confirmed that things are moving quickly:
“We’re close. Signing before January 1st? I hope it happens tomorrow. I’m serene, I feel good here and the same goes for my family. We’re almost ready, only a few of the details are missing at this point. I’m eager to extend my contract. People like me here, and I reciprocate the sentiment. The management will do its part, and I’ll do mine. There’s no problems.”
“The season? Honestly, I expected it, but I didn’t think we would hit our stride so soon. Twelve players left last summer, but we signed extraordinary guys who have been working hard since day one. It has happened more quickly than anticipated.”
“Objectives? I play this sport to win, and, while it’s hard to go far in all competitions, we strive for that. Juventus? The road is still long, and we have to keep going because there are other strong teams like Milan and Napoli. I’d like to score a lot, but the most important thing is for the team to be successful. I aim to grow every year.”
“Simone Inzaghi is a top coach. He has had three incredible years and reached the Champions League final. We haven’t won the Scudetto with him yet, but we’re definitely in the running now. He has grown a lot technically and on a human level.”
