Dusan Vlahovic revealed his agent is already in talks with Juventus to extend his contract with the Bianconeri. The 23-year-old gave a lengthy interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport and explained that he always wanted to remain with the Bianconeri and despite having two years left on his contract, he’s ready to start thinking about extending his stay in Turin:
The feeling with Chiesa is evident: where does it come from and how do you complement each other?
“We know each other from Fiorentina, we are similar because we are both very ambitious. We are also friends off the pitch, it is always nice to play with him. Last year little happened, but now we are both physically well and we have to do our own thing. We are very different but the understanding comes naturally to us. We don’t need to talk to each other, we know each other’s movements. We are off to a good start and we hope to go on like this.
Spalletti likened Chiesa to Sinner, Djokovic is your compatriot and source of inspiration. Can you and Chiesa become the Djokovic and Sinner of Juve in the hunt for the Scudetto?
“Nole is my compatriot, I would like to reach his goals, he is the best of all time in the era when Federer and Nadal played, this is enough to understand how strong he is mentally. Sinner is very good and young like us, he can do so many things in the future. In tennis you play alone, it is more difficult to achieve goals. Fede and I are lucky, we have a team that supports us.
Do you also bring football home?
“Yes, I dedicate myself to it 100 per cent. At home I recover and then I watch the games. Of the others, though, I already watch mine at Continassa with the staff.
Does it bother you that there is so much talk about Juve’s game, putting results in second place?
“No, that’s not our thinking. We’re training hard and well and when we go out onto the pitch we only have one thing on our minds, winning. When we succeed we are happy. In the end that’s the only thing that matters. Then of course we work on our mistakes to try to improve.
Allegri says you had your best game against Inter. Does you agree?
“If he says so it will certainly be true. But I know I can do even better.”
Between you and Lautaro there are currently 8 goals difference. Do you have any regrets?
“I missed a few games and came back slowly. But I wouldn’t like to make comparisons because we live in different contexts. He is a world champion and I can only congratulate him. He, Osimhen and Giroud are great forwards, but I believe in myself and I have nothing to envy from anyone.
Luca Toni is convinced that you can still score more than 20 goals this season: do you believe it?
“I believe it, if he says so, he’s a world champion and has scored so much in his career, even more. I’ll do everything I can to prove him right.
What would you like to have of Haaland, your City peer?
“Haaland is great, he is breaking all records but we have different stories. I will try to one day have the same number of goals as him.”
With Serbia you achieved a historic qualification for Euro 2024: what’s your next dream?
“I played the World Cup but I was not well and that is a big regret. Now we have qualified for the European Championship after 23 years, writing a page in the history of our football, but I am not satisfied. We have a good team and we can do something important.
In Serbia you play with Milinkovic Savic, now in Saudi Arabia: is Sergej homesick for Italy? Do you still hope to play with him at Juve?
“We didn’t talk about these things, I only asked him if he is well and if he is happy there”.
Besides Milinkovic, Mitrovic has also chosen Saudi Arabia: would you join them?
“I play in one of the most important teams in the world, I am honoured and proud, for now I see myself here”.
More than goodbye, then, are you thinking about renewal?
“I still have two and a half years left on my contract, we are in no hurry however Giuntoli and my agent are already talking. I am very happy to be here’.
