Tudor Agent: ‘Napoli wanted a 4-3-3 – the Ideas were too different to be compatible’

The agent of Igor Tudor confirms that he was considered for the Napoli job, but his tactical ideas were ‘too different to be compatible.’ The Partenopei parted ways with Rudi Garca earlier this week, with former coach Walter Mazzarri returning to Naples on a reported short-term contract.

Speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport, agent Anthony Seric confirmed that there had been talks with Tudor, but the ideas on how to coach the team were too different:

“What went wrong? The club has a very clear position: they want a coach who aligns with the 4-3-3 and the discussions were about how to develop it. However, if you call yourself Tudor, you are aware of the kind of dynamic game he proposes with wide players.”

“A missed opportunity? If a club of this size calls him, it’s wonderful, but it depends on what is needed and in what way. I think it was best to listen with interest to a proposal from De Laurentiis. Igor is phenomenal, he’s certainly among the top coaches in Italy. But no disappointment. They were just two ideas that were too different to be compatible.”
