Italian politician Mauro Berruto believes the Fiorentina-Juventus match, scheduled for this evening, should be postponed. Torrential rain in the Tuscany region has seen six deaths so far, prompting calls from various local politicians that the game between the two historic rivals should be postponed. Berruto, MP and Head of Sport for the Democratic Party, shared his thoughts on the matter, saying:
“Fiorentina-Juventus must be postponed. I am appalled at the decision to have the match played despite the deaths and the disaster around that stadium. If the Lega Calcio does not intervene to postpone the match, it will be celebrating for the umpteenth time the abysmal distance between itself and reality.”
“‘It is a distance that has become shamefully unbearable and that is no longer capable of stopping in the face of anything. My total solidarity goes to the fans of the Curva Fiesole who were able to make a decision quickly, without ifs and buts’.
