Scaroni: ‘Ibra’s return to Milan? He must decide what to do’

Start

Milan president Paolo Scaroni says it’s up to Zlatan Ibrahimovic if he wants to return to Milan in a managerial role.  The Rossoneri boss was speaking with Sky Sport on a range of subjects related to club, including the proposed new stadium and the potential return of the Swedish legend:

“New Stadium? If the city administration had espoused the wishes of Inter and Milan four years ago, we would already have the stadium paid for by the clubs and not by the citizens as San Siro was. We are moving forward as Milan on the San Donato project’.

“We have a red thread that we follow: all the operations we do must be economically sustainable. We want to have stronger players, calm, in place with their contracts, so that we have a strong team. This is what we do when we approach a renewal: if we can, we do it, if not, we don’t.

“Ibra’s return? That’s more a question for him than for us. We have shown (Cardinale, me, Furlani) great willingness and pleasure. He is a friend. Ibra has to decide what he wants to do when he gets older. With us the door is open, he is rightly going through a moment of reflection: professional and geographical choice and where he wants to live. When he has made his choice, if there is space at AC Milan we will evaluate what to do. We’ll wait for him in short.

“TV rights? For me what gives me concern and anguish is not so much the national rights as the international ones. Milan is a world brand, we must succeed in developing the league presence and therefore Milan on the world stage. There is a US market after a hundred years, football is making its way and we owe it to the American women, who by winning the World Cup have revitalised passion. We have to be present in the USA, Indonesia, Asia. The league and Milan play there in the future. We must be present in the world. To organise a TV channel you need managerial skills that I don’t find all in the League.”
