Rudi Garcia: ‘To say that I didn’t appreciate the post-Fiorentina situation is an understatement’

Start

Rudi Garcia says it would be an ‘understatement’ to say he didn’t appreciate the fallout following his sides 3-1 loss to Fiorentina before the international break. The Frenchman has had a muddling start to life with Partenopei and is already considered under pressure by the Italian media. Reports have already linked with Antonio Conte with the Napoli job, but speaking ahead of their match against Verona tomorrow, Garcia insisted he was only focused on their next game rather than the media chatter about his future:

“This press conference is to talk about the game against Verona. I am serene and calm. Don’t interpret that I’m nervous, OK? To say that I didn’t appreciate the match after Fiorentina is putting it mildly. It was a lack of respect towards me. It was exaggerated, very disproportionate.”

“Victor Osimhen, as you know, and Anguissa will not be there. I have Raspadori and Simeone, an important asset. The good thing is that they are different: with Giacomo and Giovanni we are covered.”

“Verona is a tough match, we want to pick up what we left behind in the last game. We have to be good: they don’t score many goals, but they also concede few. The players and staff are ready”.

“We’ve been working on set-pieces. We’ve had little time to prepare for the game: a more video-based session. The mood is positive, there’s a desire to win. The lads are motivated, we’ll prove it all together: we want to win at all costs.”

“The betting scandal? It’s not appropriate to talk about it now.”
