Sassuolo are poised to sign Uruguayan striker Agustín Álvarez with the move expected to be confirmed in the coming week. The 21-year-old has spent his entire career with Uruguayan side Peñarol, playing in the Primera División where he scored 23 goals in 40 appearances last year.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the Neroverdi are now set to sign Álvarez having agreed terms over a transfer.
Romano suggests that an agreement has already been signed and Álvarez will be in Italy this week to complete the move.
The deal is expected to cost Sassuolo €11m with the Neroverdi having beaten the likes of Leeds and Barcelona to sign the player.
Sassuolo have have also reportedly agreed to a series of performance related bonuses and a percentage of any future transfer fee.
