La Stampa report that the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation on bets placed on illegal platforms, with Juve midfielder Nicolò Fagioli on the register of suspects.
The newspaper reports that last August 30, the 22-year-old Juventus midfielder’s lawyers and prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta reported the matter to the FIGCpro secutor’s office, who in turn opened an investigation file.
For all professional footballers there is a ban on betting on any sporting event organized by FIGC, UEFA or FIFA. From a sports point of view, Fagioli risks a fine of €25,000 or a disqualification of up to three years.
According to Article 720 of the Criminal Code, those who participate in gambling could also face an arrest of up to six months and a fine of €516. The penalties are increased for those who bet significant amounts of money
