De Laurentiis: ‘I’m having a bad time with Garcia at the moment’

Start

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis admitted that he’s going to a bad time with coach Rudi Garcia following their loss against Fiorentina at the weekend. The Partenopei have struggled for form this season, losing their last two matches in a row, while the Italian media are already linking the club with Antonio Conte and Igor Tudor.

Touching on the matter during a speech at the Luiss University in Rome, De Laurentiis confessed that things are not going as well as he expected with the new Napoli coach:

“I am experiencing a bad moment with him. I am an entrepreneur, I have a duty to take an interest in my business. The coach and the sporting director are at your service. I will make the most appropriate decisions when the time comes.  You must always pause for thought. Any hasty decision is wrong.

“When you take a coach who no longer knows Italian football, maybe he struggles. It would have happened to anyone else. The only responsibility I have apart from having chosen the coach is that I didn’t have the chance to be near him every day at Castel Volturno.”

“I have spoken with Thiago Motta, but he didn’t consider the risk of having to take the place of a coach who had done what he did. I called Luis Enrique and it’s a good thing he went to France, look what he’s doing. He didn’t even convince me in the dialectical exchanges we had for three days. I called several of them.”
