Pioli: ‘It was the classic Champions League match in terms of intensity’

Stefano Pioli has spoken to the media post-match after Milan drew 0-0 away to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in the Champions League. He stated that ‘It was the classic Champions League match in terms of intensity’, despite the match ending in a goalless draw at Westfalenstadion.

The Rossoneri are without a win in Europe this term and have shared the points in both of their opening two matches without scoring or conceding a single goal. Pioli discussed matters with Prime Video after the game and spoke about his team’s performance, the quality of the group and Paris Saint-Germain:

“I think that in the first half we lacked a bit of technical clarity to slow down the pace of the match, while in the second we had important opportunities. It’s a shame. It was the classic Champions League match in terms of intensity but we’ve not managed to bring the victory home and we are sorry.”

“The intention was to raise the center of gravity by recovering many balls which however we managed badly . We must also give credit to the opponents who played a quality match, as you find at this level.”

“We knew the group was so complicated and there was also a surprise result. Sooner or later we too will win. We know that we can’t miss a step to qualify. The double match against PSG will be fundamental.”
