Atalanta and Juventus played out a 0-0 draw on Sunday evening but La Dea boss Gian Piero Gasperini feels that his team ‘played an excellent match’ and that ‘the team has grown’. Gasperini spoke to DAZN post-match as he discussed whether he was satisfied with the result, his attackers, Ederson and qualifying for the Champions League:
Satisfied?: “Undoubtedly. We played an excellent match, we improved and in the end we had clear opportunities to win. This evening was there, we were disappointed.”
“We go out with good awareness. We were compact and, during the match, we knew how to have our set-up. Those who entered gave good responses, which allows us to have more alternatives.”
“By playing a lot together, we improve in all departments. I’m satisfied, the team has grown and can play well even in games like this.”
Just missing the goal?: “I think so. I’m happy with the attitude and we’ll have the chance to recover Scamacca, who could have given a different solution today. Happy with Muriel’s performance, I saw him aiming with a lot of energy. This day made us take a leap forward in the belief to face this championship.”
On Champions League goals: “I find it inappropriate to set goals at this time. We are bringing in new players and we are doing it through this performance.”
On Ederson improving his shooting: “He does a lot of work on the pitch and is very useful, but to increase his size he has to find more goals. It’s in the heart of every midfielder and he also has a decent shot.”
