Sarri: ‘We had a remarkable first half’

Start

Maurizio Sarri has praised Lazio’s first half display despite losing 2-0 away to Milan on Saturday in their Serie A clash at San Siro. The 64-year-old head coach has stated that: ‘We had a remarkable first half’, after talking with DAZN post-match.

It has not been the best of starts to the season for the Biancocelesti as they have recorded just seven points from seven games. Sarri gave his opinion on the game in his press conference and also spoke about Taty Castellanos, as well as Nicolo Rovella, Daichi Kamada and Luis Alberto:

“We had a remarkable first half where we have the responsibility of having created many situations that we didn’t turn into quality chances. We suffered in the first 15 minutes in the second half and then we made up a good section of the match between the two goals.”

“The first half satisfied me. The aggressive midfield recovered a considerable number of balls, then when it was time to withstand 10 minutes of difficulty they also struggled to provide solutions to get out and breathe. Milan’s pressure lasted 10 minutes, it’s easy to predict that during the match there are blocks where they put you in trouble.”

On Castellanos: “He had a good first half, he struggled a little in the second half like the team, for his first start he had a good game.”

On Rovella, Kamada and Alberto: “With this solution we could struggle at this stage, we are used to a midfield that is more offensive than defensive. Rovella is a boy coming off an injury so it seemed right to give him two or three games to get back to the top of his game condition. He’s also surprising me in the defensive phase.”
