Rudi Garcia has shared his thoughts after his Napoli side looked back to their best on Saturday as they defeated Lecce 4-0 at Stadio Via del Mare. The Partenopei are now five matches unbeaten and have won their last two back-to-back Serie A matches.
The French head coach talked about Napoli’s start to the campaign, opponents Lecce and the fans in his post-match press conference:
“We started the championship very well, then there was the second half against Lazio which wasn’t done well. The boys always played to win, just maybe not with continuity. We could have won others, first and foremost in Bologna. We need to reassure the players, we need to be measured, which wasn’t the case in Genoa and Bologna. I don’t know if we’ll be in the top four at the end, we’ve had two victories in a row and we want to score the third with Fiorentina. It was a well managed match today.”
“We didn’t come to play against Lecce who were in a bad situation in the championship, they were equal with us on points. Congratulations to them for the good start to the championship and to the Lecce fans, who supported the team at the end of the match. All the fans should be like this. Today we were stronger, but for them nothing changes in the championship.”
“Congratulations also to our fans, to those who come away and spend money. We are stronger with this support. They are seeing a Napoli that plays and wins, let’s hope this continues.”
