Mourinho: ‘There’s not much more to do other than have courage and personality’

Start

Roma boss Jose Mourinho has spoken to journalists in his pre-match press conference ahead of their match-up with Frosinone at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. After winning just one league match so far in what has been Mourinho’s worst start to a campaign in his career, pressure is on for Roma to perform against newly-promoted Frosinone.

The Portuguese head coach was asked what he and his players need to do to get out of their current situation and spoke about the 4-1 loss against Genoa. He also went on to talk about Sunday’s fixture:

“I thought that after the incredible result against Empoli and the victory in the Europa League that that weight was off people’s shoulders, both on and off the pitch. This did not happen with the draw in Turin under normal conditions, given what happens this season where teams potentially playing for lower positions can get results against superior teams. After a good match, it became a negative point with Torino because we have few points, if we had had 7-8 it would be different.”

“With Genoa I expected continuity and improvement, but that didn’t happen. If we want to say what happened, many things happened, disadvantage, draw, again behind. Instead of improving, we immediately got worse. With Cristante in defense the team got worse, when we went to four we got even worse, Cristante and Ndicka have never played in a 4.”

On the match against Frosinone: “It will be difficult because we have extra pressure, we need to have courage even if we have only worked for two days. There’s not much more to do other than have courage and personality, it’s a shame we’re not playing today.”
