Vincenzo Italiano believes his side should have been more clinical in front of goal in the first half as his Fiorentina side shared the points in a 1-1 draw away to Frosinone on Thursday night. Nicolas Gonzalez opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes of the game but a second half goal from Juventus loanee Matias Soule rescued a point for last season’s Serie B champions.
Italiano addressed the media post-match and spoke to Sky Sport about not taking home all three points, M’Bala Nzola and Gonzalez’s reaction to the result:
“In the first half we should have scored more goals, that didn’t allow us to win the match. If you don’t direct it well right from the start then you can concede the goal. But it’s been a long time since we played with this vehemence and we managed to create all these scoring opportunities. It’s sad that we didn’t win it, but in the end I think that by continuing to create so much we can do well.”
On Nzola: “Nzola must not get nervous, nor Beltran. Both must be happy that the team creates so much, because if only one shortcoming remains, it’s not a problem for them, sooner or later we will get there. We must continue to send them on goal, then they clearly have to do something more, they must not get discouraged and they must not have the obsession of scoring goals.”
On Gonzalez’s reaction at the end of the game: “He was angry because we didn’t win, it’s normal. I like it this attitude. I told him that if there’s anyone angrier than him, it’s me. But this is fine, it means that the boy wants to win and do things well.”
