Bologna head coach Thiago Motta has discussed the importance of work ethic for his team as they prepare to face Monza in Serie A on Thursday. The former Genoa and Inter man said in a press conference ahead of the match: “Our task is to fight and fight every day”.
The Rossoblù have won just one of their five league matches so far this term but are unbeaten in their last four, last suffering defeat on the opening day. They have failed to score across their last two games but have kept two clean sheets in the process. Motta has addressed concerns about a lack of goals, the importance of working hard and team selection:
On a lack of goals: “It’s part of the game, the problem would be conceding too many goals and scoring too few. We have met strong teams, the big names in the league and all the Serie A matches are a story in themselves.”
“Turnaround with Monza? I will choose the best possible formation to face Monza. We know that we will not have two defenders and there will be a great opportunity for others. Both Bonifazi and Calafiori are ready to play and make a contribution, but I still don’t say who will play. De Silvestri will start instead and he will also be the captain.”
“Our task is to fight and fight every day and in every training session to compete in Serie A. We cannot afford anything else and tomorrow we will need a great performance in Monza.”
