Chelsea are now open to the idea of loaning striker Romelu Lukaku to Inter, provided the finance are right. Lukaku is reportedly desperate to return to Italy where he enjoyed two successful seasons, including winning the Scudetto with the Nerazzurri.
Inter’s financial situation made a full transfer untenable, however reports had suggested that a loan move had been touted in an effort to accommodate all parties.
The Guardian now report that Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has ‘no intention of standing in the Belgian’s way’ and talks between the clubs are under way.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea’s new owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, have made clear to Lukaku that they are ready to find a solution with Inter.
The Blues could ask Inter for a loan fee of up to £25m per season and for a significant portion of Lukaku’s £325,000-a-week wages to also be covered.
