Following Inter’s 1-0 win away to Empoli on Sunday, head coach Simone Inzaghi has said that: “We faced a team with strong motivation and we played an excellent match.”
The Nerazzurri have won all five of their opening matches in Serie A and have conceded just one goal, keeping four clean sheets in the process. Inzaghi reflected on his side’s recent triumph after the game and spoke to Sky Sport about the injury to Marko Arnautovic, equalling the record of Antonio Conte and Helenio Herrera and the number of players in his squad:
On Arnautovic: “It’s the negative note of the day. He is clearly an important player who we will lose for some time, sorry because he had fit well into the group.”
On winning the first five games and equalling Conte and Herrera: “Personal glories don’t interest me much, I’m interested in the group. We faced a team with strong motivation and we played an excellent match. We should have closed it first having then suffered when we were left with ten men. We had to find the 2-0 given the many opportunities we had.”
On is he is worried about the amount of players in the squad: “No, I’m focused on work. I know that opinions change from game to game, but I’m proud to lead Inter, I know what path we’ve taken with the staff in these two years. We have to look ahead, we know they will be there now very intense matches and we will have to be good at recovering physical and mental energy.”
