Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek feels the Rossoneri deserved to win in the Champions League opener against Newcastle United. The match ended 0-0, but Milan had a host of chances to take the lead, having 25 shots on the Magpies’ goal, 9 of them on target.
The Rossoneri had an Expected Goals tally of 1.99, with Rafael Leao having the best of the chances, despite receiving a 4.5/10 rating from La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.
Loftus-Cheek was subbed off in the second-half of the game, prompting fears that he may have suffered a serious injury. Taking to Instagram after the match, the midfielder reassured fans that he was ok, saying: “I feel ok, just cramp.”
He later posted some brief thoughts on the match: “We deserved three points tonight.”
