Bonucci: ‘I’ve read things from Juventus that are not true’

Start

The war of words between Juventus and Leonardo Bonucci continues, as the defender says what the Bianconeri have said is not true. The 35-year-old veteran was ushered out of the club this summer after being told he would not be part of the 2023-24 squad, prompting his move to Union Berlin.

Bonucci has since started legal proceedings against his former club, claiming damages to his sporting image, and speaking with Sportmediaset, he states that what Juve have said in the media about his situation is not true:

“It is not true that in October 2022 and February 2023 I was told that the club wanted to stop the relationship at the end of the season.

“I only sniffed something was wrong by reading about it in the newspapers until Giuntoli and Manna informed me on 13 July when they came to my house that I would no longer be part of the Juventus squad and that my presence on the pitch would hinder the team’s growth.”

“This was the humiliation I suffered after more than 500 games in bianconero. I appreciated the solidarity of many players, including current ones, from Juve and other teams. They all showed me their closeness for the disrespectful behaviour of the club.”
