Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi says he doesn’t understand why former club captain Leonardo Bonucci is suing the club. The Azzurri international made the move from Turin to Berlin this summer, after the club informed him that he would not be in the squad for the 2023-24 season.
Reports from Italy now indicate that Bonucci is set to take legal action against the Bianconeri, suing them for alleged damage to his sporting image.
Speaking with Radio Bianconera, Moggi made his feelings on the matter known, claiming that Bonucci no longer had it in him to perform at the level Juve needed:
“If a club excludes a player, but allows them to train, there is no talk. Furthermore, Bonucci went to Union Berlin, a club that plays in Champions League.
“So, I don’t understand what damage he thinks he has suffered. Bonucci would like to play at the highest level again, but he has the performance of someone who can no longer hold up to these standards.”
