Milan are working on the contract renewals of a number of players, including Rafael Leao, Sandro Tonali and Pierre Kalulu. The Rossoneri are still celebrating their 19th Scudetto and are eager to secure a number of key performers to longer term, improved contracts.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan are working on a new contract for Portuguese winger Leao as a priority following his decisive performances last season.
His match-winning displays have attracted the attention of of some European top clubs, primarily Real Madrid, and for this exact reason, the Rossoneri want to improve his salary and remove any doubts over his immediate future.
Gazzetta suggest that Leao is keen to give his ‘OK’ to Milan, however the temptation of Spain and the hesitation of his agent, Jorge Mendes, complicates the situation.
Milan have already presented Leao with a renewal offer of €4.5 million per season, triple that of what it earns now, and his contract extension is a priority of the new owner Gerry Cardinale.
The hope is that a new deal is found soon so that Milan can move on and commit other members of the team to new deals.
In addition to Leao, Milan aim to renew the contracts of Pierre Kalulu and Sandro Tonali. The Frenchman currently earns around €400,000 and bringing his salary to €1 million could be enough, while the former Brescia midfielder will also see his salary rise in line with his important role last season.
English defender Fikayo Tomori is already in talks with Milan directors over a new contract, despite his existing deal not ending until 2025. Gazzetta report that his entourage has already reached a basis of understanding to extend his contract with salary adjustment to over €3 million, plus bonuses.
The suggestion is that a renewal is very likely as both parties are keen to continue together for some years yet.
