Sarri: ‘We can talk about the disallowed Guendouzi goal all night long…’

Start

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri believes both the disallowed goals in their 2-1 win against Napoli looked good to him. The Biancocelesti soaked up a lot of early pressure but made the most of their counterattacks, twice having the ball in the net when they were leading 2-1, only for the referee to rule them out. Sarri touched on the matter in his post-match chat with DAZN, but chose instead to focus on their impressive result in a tough atmosphere:

“In the first half we suffered but we were not passive. In the second, however, we were in control of the match and we made it 3-1 twice. In the five minutes of added time it is normal to suffer. I’m sorry for the goals that were disallowed. The one by Zaccagni looked good to me, of the one by Guendouzi we can talk about it all night long”.

“The second half shows that the conditioning of the team is good. We showed a good mentality and mental condition. The two goals cancelled out could have weighed heavily. Everything is the result of the mentality with which you play”.

“Guendouzi? I think he’s a player of great intensity. He can give us balance because he has good qualities in the defensive phase and he could be extremely useful for us. I decided to put him on the pitch straight away because he seemed to me to be ready from the start and to understand what the team needed.

“Kamada? He moved like everyone else in the first 15 minutes of the match. My goal is to make him grow without letting him go to the limit. I’m happy despite the fact that we won’t have him for a few days because of the national team.”
